My New Weird but Meaningful Hobby

Check out my new blog: http://angelgowns.blogspot.com

I saw a CNN video on a lady the other day and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Michelle (and her friends) volunteer their time to deconstruct donated old wedding gowns and make tiny gowns for parents who have lost their babies. This made me so happy. When I had to shop for an outfit for my sons, Evan and Charlie, it was so miserable because you have to go to happy baby stores and try to find something that is more tiny than stores usually have. You don't have a lot of time and nothing ever seems special enough. I love this idea of taking these happy wedding dresses and making them into beautiful and special outfits for babies who have died (premature, stillborn, or infant death). I reached out to Michelle to ask if I could help in any way. She sent me her patterns and some information and encouraged me to start my own non-profit in my hometown. I love to sew and have some available time, and this idea touched me.

If you would like to donate your wedding dress, I would be very grateful. If your dress is special to you and you want to keep it to show or share with your daughters, I totally understand. I also accept gift cards to Joanns Fabric Store. But if yours has ridiculously poofy sleeves and your daughters are way too chic to ever wear it, or your dress has been stuffed in a dusty box and you have been annoyed by it every time you moved, then donate your dress for a special and heartfelt cause. This is a generous and thoughtful way to recycle your old dress. I can come pick the dress up if you live in Las Vegas, or you can mail it to me from anywhere in the country. I will send you pictures of the final baby outfits that I make out of your dress. Please forward this to anyone else you can think of who might be interested in helping. Thank you!
