There is just not enough time to do Rome in a day. We had to hit the highlights and promise we will go back some day - and when we do it won't be in the summertime. The colosseum was awesome. I freaking love history, so to get to see these places and think about what happened there is just amazing. (And sad.) Makes me want to watch Gladiator again.
I made these modern day gladiators pose with their modern day weapons for this picture. Yes, I'm that kind of girl. I know they both thought it was stupid, but I still thought it was funny and I was happy they obliged. :o)
Trevi Fountain was very lovely. Maddie liked throwing the coin over her shoulder.
I am happy this man is still my sweetheart.
I remember sitting and eating our authentic Italian food at the foot of the Pantheon and thinking, "Man! I am so lucky!" It was just as cool as I could have imagined.
Maddie is living the life!
I really would have liked to spend more time at the Vatican. We were really rushed and it was hotter than you know what there, so I don't feel like I got to enjoy it as much as I would on a normal day. For example, by the time we got to the Sistine Chapel, I was over it and just wanted to breath in a non-crowded air conditioned place. But St. Peter's Basilica was absolutely stunning. It wasn't until the very end of walking around the cathedral that we realized it was St. Peter's tomb. Duh. That's pretty freaking cool.
