Tingey Family Reunion 2008

For as long as I can remember, I have attended the bi-annual Bill and Sylvia Tingey Reunion. They had ten kids, and my grandpa is their second born. Then my grandpa had twelve kids and my mom is the oldest. If this is too confusing, just know that there are a LOT of people and that it is a lot of fun. I am glad I went and allowed Maddie to experience it the way I did growing up.

One more, and I am caught up.

Jamie, I don't want to hear about how lame my blog has been and that I used to pride myself on blogging in "real time."

Here are the pictures from my family's trip to Oceanside. (If you haven't already noticed the theme of my blog this summer - it is "going to places that aren't as hot as Las Vegas to try to find ways to stay cool.")

Here is our latest sister picture.

Just hanging around.

Best friends telling secrets.

Best friends holding hands.

Uncle Kyle digging a hole. What is it for?

Maddie & Emma's fort.

Here are the girl cousins in their dresses that Aunt Candace made for them.

Our little family - isn't Maddie adorable here?

Me & Emma are the kind of girls who sit on the beach. (As you can see - my hair is still the texture of shredded wheat.)

Maddie and Hailey are the wild and crazy kind - who actually go into the water! I know! Crazy!

We went with Kyle to tour some law schools in San Diego. (We may have taken a little longer in the moot court room for a photo session.)

Maddie and her best friend - Grandma Linda.

Grandma Linda looking so proud of her offspring.

Yellowstone

A couple of weeks ago we went to Yellowstone with Karen's family and had a super fun time. My camera was still lost, so I had to use a disposable camera and it took me forever to get them developed.

Here we are on our way down the 328 death defying steps of a hike. No, those are not Crocs, it is a figment of your imagination! (I was desperate, I only packed heels - we didn't know we were going until a last minute decision from Utah.)

And here is Josh's poor cousin, John, who had to carry the extra 30 pounds on the way up. Needless to say we were all shaky the rest of the day and sore the rest of the week.

And here is John carrying around Maddie at a big, stinky, beautiful water feature. (Don't you love newly married couples - they are always the best to have around your kids!)

Great Grandma Tobler was so sweet to take the Madster into her motorhome and make her a bracelet of the beads she picked out. So cute.

And here is Josh's other cousin who was adorable with Maddie, Scott. They were taking an ice cream break.

Three generations of Yellowstone campers waiting for Old Faithful to blow. (Isn't anybody else worried that this is the top of a massive volcano that could explode at any time?)

Our latest sad attempt at a family picture with the uncooperative Madster.

The loves of my life at "The Bog of Eternal Stench." (Renamed by me.)

Looking for all the animals. (We saw bears, a wolf, beavers, otters, eagles, a million buffalos, a billion squirrels, etc., etc.) We had a blast, and camping with Karen's new motor-home is the only way to go!

Idaho

Josh had a lawyer's convention in Cour de lene, Idaho, and once again, I invited myself along. Idaho doesn't exactly sound like an exotic getaway, but it turns out that it is a quaint little lakeside town. It was beautiful and we even found time to take a rental boat out for a spin with our friends.

Pets

Maddie has been asking me for a new pet every day for the last year. (Ever since we had that cat for a day.) So, finally, I gave in and got her the PERFECT pet for parents who don't like pets. She loved them and named them Ariel and Snow White.

Of course, after about a week, she wanted to know why there was a place for batteries under the rock! (he-he)

And my favorite pet: Cole! They were "helping" Grandma Linda wash her car.

Candace, this looked like fun.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn’t matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.
